architect - ORIGIN mid 16th century : derived from French architecte, itself derived from the Latin architectus, originally from the Greek arkhitektōn; a combination of arkhi - chief, or master + tektōn - an artificer or builder, specially a craftsman in wood, or workman
architaktos - a combination of the Greek roots arkhi - chief, or master + taktos - to arrange, or provide order
The term architaktos was created in an effort to incorporate the contemporary roll of the architect as one who aims to provide order rather than simply as a craftsman. Essentially it is intended to illustrate the roll of the architect as a designer, master not only as a craftsman but capable of providing thoughtful and appropriate order to craftsmanship through his or her design capabilities.
ARCHITAKTOS was created and is maintained by Javier D. Alonso
