metro[RE]link
Currently the St. Louis public transit system is among the worst managed within the United States. Given the acute number of service terminations and layoffs the New York Times selected the St. Louis Metro system as the focal point for an article discussing the dire conditions of mass transit systems across the nation. Indeed, faced with lack of financial funding the St. Louis Metro system has been forced to cut more services and have more layoffs than any other city within the United States. These conditions persist despite increased ridership within St. Louis as well as nationwide. Prompted by the current conditions of the transit system within St. Louis this project aims to further develop the Metro system through the proposal of a second light rail line, as well as the development of a station at the intersection of the current line and proposed line. This inter-station will not only provide access the Metro system but also provide commercial and civic services acting as a central hub re-linking currently disconnected and distressed sections of the city.
