This project began with the knowledge that a young couple intended to dispose of a hand-carved fire place mantel, after having it removed and replaced with a granite mantel in their new home. Rather than contribute to the excessive amount of waste produced in the United States, this project proposes to repurpose the mantel into both a bar and two vase pedestals. With the mantel top providing the bar top, and the mantel sides being used as pedestals. The following images where produced to illustrate the potential use of the mantel.
